When people think of flying cars, helicopters do not think about, after all would not be quite dangerous spinning blades have some overhead, while floating around you, or your local Starbucks or your supermarket. Indeed, flying cars are supposed to have wings like airplanes, and maybe a kind of a lift fan system where the blades are coated around the vehicle, so as not to hurt anyone. Some Sci Fi drawings, concepts, and films show a kind of anti-gravity device and the magical flying car, like a magic carpet for example.

It's hard to say what the future will actually look like flying cars, but they are surely come. It can not come quickly, because the government is always going out of their way to protect us against ourselves, and because older technologies to newer technologies throttling, but you can bet that one day we will not ride on roads, we'll fly over them. Now then, let me tell you why I believe rotor blades, fan blades or components will in the future, flying cars that we will ride around in.

You see, we are already witnessing the transformation of rotor technology, and we are about one giant leap-frogging over a stream of these technologies. Let me explain, Lockheed Martin is working on morph-able blades, not only will they be able to change their pitch, as the current blades, but they will also be able to change their shape while they are running, and spinning around at high speed. All this thanks to new shape shifting materials, various forms of material by memory strategies.

I also see great progress in recent UAV helicopter designs at The Boeing Company, and with new X-2-Sikorsky helicopter for research and prototype development, technology only for pure research. Consider if you want new materials will be lighter and stronger, some of them 250 times stronger than steel and 50 times lighter. Therefore it will not take much to lift them off the ground, and with rotor and fan blades can change shape, it is a foregone conclusion in my mind as a futurist.

Now there are many who believe that a different opinion or any other converging technologies will be the one to get there ourselves, but In the end, it may be a combination, still one of the major components will be morphing, or shape shifting or fan blades. And they can not look as the current versions of such things, this is what I expected for the future. Consider this.
