My 60 hp Mercury 4-stroke engine gave a warning alarm, then cut the power ..?
The engine is well maintained and has low hours. 2003/04 model. This also happened a number of trips ago, but a thorough flush and back flush the system appeared to cure the problem. Now after several trips the alarm sounded again. I have what seems to are plenly of water spurted out, a good water. The alarm cuts the power to a low speed and the alarm stops. once power is reapplied to the motor is ok until 5500-6000 speed reached again share power with alarm sounds. My dealer clearly suggests' cooling pump kit is necessary, "which is about £ 130 plus £ 240 as her work is a + VAT full day of work ….. Has anyone had this problem for the dealer said its common with this year and makle of the engine.
I need to know whether the alarm is stable or an intermittent beep. In your manual there is a chart that explains the different funtcions the alarm. I think for years that the guardian checked 5 different functions (heat, low oil pressure, volts, sensor faults, failures and guardian), but to be sure and order. understand the codes consult your manual oil pump cooling kit ……………. It should be mentioned be something I missed in school 18 years service. One thing you scanned your dealer as the engine. The PCM stores all alarm activations, and provides them with a DDT or CDS scan. If your dealer not done according to the diagnosis, I would seriously looking for another dealer. one thing I remember about those years is that the engine temperature had a low lifetime, if you getting a hot engine signal, this may be the problem.
