Rc Gas Turbine?
how hard or easy is it to make a gas turbine for an RC jet i have heard of it been done before can anyone help or have you gat any design’s on how to make them
It’s not too difficult to do IF you can get hold of suitable parts to bodge together, or else can machine to a high standard.
Some parts of gas turbines don’t scale down well, and the high rotational speeds puts great strain on bearings within the engine, as well as causing extreme vibration, if the parts aren’t in perfect balance.
Axial fans as used in “normal” sized jet engines just don’t cut it when scaled down. Automotive turbochargers, are based on centrifugal fans/turbine, and provides, a fairly compact pre-engineered solution for the difficult bits of a jet engine.
all you then need is a combustion/fuelling system.
IF your model is to be based on a real jet engined plane, then maybe consider basing it on the UK’s earliest jet aircraft, as their engines used centrifugal fans/turbines, That way at least some of the engine “type” will match

I think LEGALLY it’s only a missile if the craft has an on board guidance computer. Probably some regulations to do with mass/speed of model though….
